Blueberries

Organic Blueberry prices are becoming more promotable heading into mid-February, with fruit coming from Mexico and heavy volume from Chile. Quality has been very nice with most volume for the month on pints sizes, with 6oz available as well.

Cabbage

Organic Green and Red Cabbage continue to yield strong volumes from Florida, with improved pricing and top-notch quality. Organic Savoy Cabbage supplies remain steady from California, while Organic Napa Cabbage will return to availability in coming weeks.

Mangos/Pineapple

Organic Kent Mangos from Peru have been tight as delays on fruit arrivals continue to be an issue. Mexico is starting to bring fruit into the US in hopes of capitalizing on container delays from Peru. Organic Ataulfo Honey Mangos from Mexico are available, with promotable volume in mid-February. Organic Pineapple supplies have rebounded as demand has dropped heading into February. Prices are steady.

Kiwi

Organic Green Kiwifruit is holding steady on supplies from California. With some fruit available from Italy and Greece. Italian Organic Red and Gold Kiwifruit will be available through the end of February.

Broccoli/Cauliflower

Organic Broccoli from SoCal and Yuma, AZ growing regions have seen lower prices with better volumes. Organic Broccoli Rabe and Sweet Baby Broccoli have returned to steady supplies and improved pricing. Organic Cauliflower has become promotable after extremely limited conditions. Organic Romanesco is now in good supply with improved pricing.

Artichokes

Organic Artichokes are in peak availability, with promotable volumes and pricing accompanied by strong quality, especially on jumbo sizes.

Asparagus

Organic Asparagus prices are falling and will be priced closer with conventional product starting this month. Product is out of Mexico and Ecuador and shows outstanding quality on steady supplies.

Berries

Organic Blackberries remain steady in supply out of Mexico, with very nice quality. Organic Raspberry prices are strong out of Mexico, as cold weather has hampered volume. Quality has been nice on what is available. Organic Strawberry prices remain high, and supplies are tight out of California due to cold weather. Mexican and Florida volume is also very low right now as Mother Nature has hampered production. Organic Strawberry production is expected to turn around by the end of February, when Mexico is expected to come into strong volume.

Mandarins

Organic Mandarin production is ramping back up in California and Mexico with the “Page” and “W. Murcott” varieties.

Avocados

Organic Hass Avocado prices are down slightly in early February, as supplies have finally caught up to demand. Volumes should be good approaching the “Big Game”.
