Organic Market Update

Great promotional opportunities exist for mini seedless cucumbers, French beans, and artichokes this week. Over the next few weeks, excellent supplies of organic specialty citrus out of California, including varietals like Buddha's Hand and Marmalade oranges will provide outstanding ad potentials.

Organic Broccoli! Organic Broccoli from SoCal and Yuma, AZ continues to yield strong supplies, offering sharp price points and merchandising opportunities. Through early March. Organic Baby Broccoli and Broccoli Rabe supplies remain steady, and pricing continues to improve. Organic Purple Baby Broccoli is also back in season.

Mini Sweet Peppers

Organic Mini Sweet Peppers are finally in good supply with great quality. With improved pricing, potential promotional opportunities should be available heading into March.

Organic Mini Seedless Cucumbers from Mexico are back in steady supply, with quality rated as excellent. Organic Cucumber supplies from Mexico will remain limited for this week, and pricing expected to stabilize going forward. Quality is excellent.

Organic French Beans will be promotable through the end of the month. Row-packed 10/1lb bags have really grown in popularity and quality has been consistently excellent.

Specialty Citrus

Heading into March, Organic Specialty Citrus from California is at its peak. Heirloom NavelsStem & Leaf Tango Mandarins, and Kumquats are showing outstanding quality. And, unique product like Buddha's HandMango Valencia OrangesLemonade Lemons and Marmalade Oranges are not to be missed.

Minneola Tangelos

Organic Minneola Tangelos supplies continue to improve through February with larger sized fruit plentiful at this point in the season.

Celery

Organic Celery and Celery Hearts volume remains flush heading into March. Quality has been excellent on this new crop product, providing a great opportunity to promote.

Colored Bell Peppers

Organic Red, Yellow, and Orange Bell Peppers from Mexico remain in peak season supply. Volumes and quality are excellent s February winds down. In early to mid-March, another harvest flush is expected, providing some exciting promotional opportunities again. Organic Colored Bell Peppers from Israel remain in steady supply with nice quality for customers that prefer this product; however, pricing is higher compared to Mexican product.

Artichokes

Organic Artichoke volume continues to increase with outstanding quality coming out of Coachella, CA. The next two weeks will offer some of the best times of the year to promote. Look for 18ct (XL) sizing with label tags on the stems.
